Fedora Core 3-WONT BOOT on win xp box
i seem to be the only one with this problem...ok so im running windows xp <yuck> i downloaded the fedora core 3 iso's both the i386 and _64 just to be safe. and i burned all of the ISO's with alcohol 120%...when i shut down windows and restart the pc <to boot from the fdc3 installation cd> its doesnt read the fdc3 cd...now i have an linux RH9 that i downloaded and burned the same way and it boots right to install...i did notice that there was no auto-run file in the fdc3 cds...
my basic question is ... how do i get this to install....or must i give up with fdc3 and let microsuck win. ------------------------ below is some of my sys info OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer HP Pavilion 05 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 6 Model 6 Stepping 2 AuthenticAMD ~1732 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD AM35308, 10/7/2002 SMBIOS Version 2.3 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\System32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Locale United States --------------------------------------- please please , for the love of all thats holy...reserve my sanity and cdr's. |

Two recommendations - first, use CD-RWs for future ISO burns. That way, if there are any problems, it's easy enough (and economical enough) to erase and re-burn. Second, you don't need the x86_64 ISOs with your box. The i386 ISOs should work fine as long as they were burned correctly. Make sure you try the boot install with the i386 ISO disc 1.
I've used the same CD-RW discs for several FC2 downloads/burns and the latest FC3 ISOs. Sometimes my first attempts at ISO burns didn't work, but using the same disks a second time always seemed to work for me. |
