Fedora 11 wont do a first boot.

First a little about my system
Asus A8V-XE motherboard.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo 2.2GHz Socket 939
3 Gb or ram.
two ide (or is PATA now) Cd/DVD rom drives.
two Maxtor SATA 120 GB (DiamondMax Plus 9)
Nvida 8600 Video card.

I have to use pci=nomsi because I have VIA8251

It took me awhile to remember about the controller issue.
I did an upgrade because I forgot to do a backup.
It took a long time to upgrade (hours) then I did the reboot.
Now all I get is the blue and white line at the bottom.
How can I boot the old way so I can watch what is happening at bootup.
I HATE A GRAPICAL BOOT PROCESS!!!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Wedge

Hi, hit escape (esc) to see the screen.

try looking at the kernel logger on screen F12.

By typing the key combination...

"ctrl+alt+F12"

the graphical display is usually on screen 7 or 8.

You might also try "ctrl+alt+F1"

HTH, Glenn

Update

Managed to get the Fedora 11 to install. OE as far as adding pci=nomsi, nommconfg.
Now I have a another question. After all this time why is the VIA VT8251 chipset still such a PITA.

Glad you got it working.

I used to have via chipsets, but I don't know about why they are difficult.

Cheers Glenn
