FC5 Setup freezes at /sbin/loader

Hi guys,

I tried the garbage/acpi=off nofb solution (enter "garbage" on the first install boot command prompt and then "linux acpi=off nofb", and disabled acpi in the BIOS, and I still get stuck after /sbin/loader. The installation medium works fine on my other computers.

I am trying to install FC5 on a Compaq vintage 1999 (?) Deskpro EP/SB Series PIII-500MHz with 394MB RAM. The System ROM is 686T2, dated 1998.08.22.

I am getting the "could not set new controlling tty" message, and also "DriveReady SeekComplete Error" for the CD (hdb) - but obviously the CD is succesfully being accessed if the boot starts from it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solved: I put ide=nodma in the boot command line and it solved the problem. Replacing the CD ROM solved the entire problem...
