Sound update

Hi,

A short update: the latest sound drivers from alsa-project.org (v1.0.10rc3) give me sound, although the headphone output is still routed to the microphone output and SPDIF is still not working. I had to use the old alsamixer soure (v.1.0.9?) from Realtek as both RC2 and RC3 from alsa-project.org wouldn't compile. But hey, at least they're not crashing any more!

The latest Realtek drivers (realtek-linux-audiopack-3.5-1) still crash when starting X; I've filed bugreports at both the alsa-project and Realtek.

Bye,

Diederik

BTW, I'm running FC4 64 bit with kernel 2.6.13-1.1532_FC4 on a AMD Athlon 64 3000+

Another update: I got SPDIF working by using these /etc/modprobe.conf options
Code:
# --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
# --- ALSACONF version 1.0.10rc3 ---
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model="5stack-digout"
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
I also managed to compile the 1.0.10rc3 version of the alsa-utils; apparently there some issues with FC3 and FC4 which prevent the alsa-utils from compiling (it can't find the alsa-libs); This is what I missed in the INSTALL file included with alsa-lib (I didn't RTFM )
Code:
* Install path on Fedora Core 3

FC3 installs its system ALSA library to /lib instead of /usr/lib.
Specify --libdir=/lib to configure to overwrite it with the new library,
or run like

# ln -sf /usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0 /lib/libasound.so.2.0.0

to make symlink to the new path.
Note that /lib might be /lib64 on 64bit architecture.
