FC3 with dual processor reboots on startup

I just installed FC3 on a dual PIII Supermicro P6DBS based machine.

This was an overwrite of a RH9 system, fresh install, not an upgrade
(the RH9 system had the same problem, so I'm guessing it's not FC3 related)

So the problem is that it starts up and runs just fine in single processor mode, but whenever I try and start it up in SMP mode, the kernel unpacks
and before I can read anything on the screen of text that flies by during startup
the system reboots....right back to the video BIOS.

Up mode, no problem, SMP mode, constant cycling of it rebooting....

Any ideas?

goosman99: At the Grub menu stage of the boot, modify the command line of the smp kernel so as to eliminate the “rhgb quiet” at the end of the line. Sometimes you can get a better clue as to what is going wrong by taking this path.

Just grasping at straws here, maybe try starting in init 3 instead of init 5? X can cause all kinds of problems early on.
