FC3 installation problems when switching to gui (graphic driver problem?)

Hi!

I tried to install Fedora Core 3 on a notebook with the following graphics chipset:
"Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Expless Chipset Family"

But when I start the installation progress and press "skip" at the cd testing question the machine does not get it into the gui based install. I can only see changing colors all over the screen and lots of fine vertical lines. It looks like using a too high refresh rate for a display.
The mentioned display adapter is not recognized by FC3. So it uses a Generic Vesa device.

EDIT:
I know that there is a possibility to use a framebuffer mode for the graphics. Therefore I could find a hint, which should work for SuSE, but does not on Fedora. Here's a link to the information:
http://portal.suse.de/sdb/de/2001/05...asy_fbdev.html
Sorry, but the link is in german. Maybe you understand what I mean even though.
The command is like: "linux 3 vga=791"

Does anybody know how to handle this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Frittenbude

I have the same issue also, and my ideal resolution is 1280x800...

You have to goto your xorg.conf file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and look ofr the area that shows the resoltuions... you will see "800x600" "640x480"

Add the resolution you want here and everywhere you see this line... that should help you fixed the problem. BUT, the other issue I STILL have is that DVDs & Xine run like crap... It is because Fedora cannot recognize the Intel 915GM. CPU cycles are getting watsed with the VESA driver.

Someone told me the kernel 2.6.11.3 have more support for the 95GM. I am hoping...
