error 28 when downloading fc2
hey all, how is it going? I trying to download FC2-I386-DVD.iso. I am dual booting XP & redhat 9. The problem that I have run in to is that I have a spare 10gig hard drive and a 10gig partition, both formatted in fat32 and empty.
When the file was near to being completed and copied fully to either of the two partitions I would recieve an error message "28; there is not enough space on device," this is all while using XP. I have tried to download the files a few times and reformat the drives but no sucess, and to top it off i even tried to download the dvd.iso on a spare comp that had win 2000 pro on it with ample space, and I recieved the same message. The one thing that I do not understand is that I was able to download the file to my XP partition (which is about 40gigs) that was formatted using ntfs. So I was thinking that I could mount my XP partition in my RedHat 9, but RH9 cannot read NTFs, if I am correct. any help would be greatly appc. Thanks Jason I. |
FAT doesnt support single files bigger than 4GB and NTFS can, that is way you can use the file in the NTFS partition. Linux by default can access the NTFS partition in Read Only mode, you can write to it, but i think it is not very well supported yet.
Anyway, what is your problem really? why dont you just burn the .iso file? |

In addition, to disc 2 not being mounted I checked all four of the files using checksum and they all chekced out fine, however after i burned them using nero in XP I then checked the burned imgage against the checksum but they were different. so that makes me scratch my head. Also about just burning the .iso file its 4gigs and i dont have a dvd burner. What could I use to bun files using RH9? Thanks Jason |
