Duplicity restore fails to find source folder after fresh install of Fedora 29

I have done a fresh install of Fedora 29 on my machine that had been running Fedora 26. Previous to this fresh install I used duplicity to make a full backup and then tested the restore function. It worked perfectly. Now that I have Fedora 29 running duplicity fails to restore when pointed to the correct source folder. The error message is "you do not have permissions". How do I correct this?
Thank you in advance.
Jeff

sudo ?.

Been a good while since I looked at it, but you might want to check uid/gid are the same between the two systems.

In the newly installed Fedora 29 my computer's name is "localhost" whereas in all previous OSes my name was "Lee". In F29 root@localhost in F26 root@Lee. I think this is significant. How might I replace the name of my computer from "localhost" to "Lee" permanently as opposed to temporarily?

Before upgrading the owner was known as "dannyboy" and group as "dannyboy". Now in F29 folders are showing owner as "Me" and group as "dannyboy". How do I change owner from "Me" to "dannyboy"?

The names are irrelevant - compare what the following return as your normal user.
Code:
id
ls -nl backup-directory

id and ls -al

dannyboy@localhost ~]$ id
uid=1000(dannyboy) gid=1000(dannyboy) groups=1000(dannyboy),10(wheel) context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023
[dannyboy@localhost ~]$ ls -al backup-directory
ls: cannot access 'backup-directory': No such file or directory

I think the id is fine, it is the ls -al response that is the issue. Right? What do I do to fix this?

Thanks.

My backup issue has been resolved. Duplicity refused to write backup to /home because it was already populated so a new directory was created /home/backup and my files are happily being transferred to it on the harddrive.

Thank you very much for your help and your willingness.

Aussies are great folk!
