Unhappy Display Problem FC3 install

I have a 900Mhz hp computer I was trying to install Fedora core 3 onto. This machine has had both a FC1 & 2 install with no problems. The DVD install disk, hardware are all in good working order. When anaconda starts in GUI mode the screen just goes crazy with a bunch of bright pixely colours. So I rebooted the system and installed FC3 with the text install (which I have never needed to do before). After I installed FC3 using the text install, when I booted for the first time the same thing happened where the screen goes all pixelly, my guess is that the resolution is set to high for my monitor or video card, how can I change the resolution for the install/operational screens to 800x600 or less? or is this even my problem?

thanks

I had this exact same problem, but my resolution was in fact set at 800x600, so it should've worked fine. I saw the random pixellation during the graphical install process, so I too switched to a text install after the second attempt. The text-based install went fine, but now when I reboot or login, various windows are incompletely painted. There is definitely a problem here, and I don't think reducing monitor resolution will help. This system -- a Dell Optiplex GX110 -- worked fine with FC2. Any ideas?

FC3 display problem solved

http://people.redhat.com/krh/i810_drv.o

Replace the existing driver /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/i810_drv.o with the one found at the link above. I made no other changes. It worked for me.

How do I replace the driver, when I can't log-in? I am assuming you can do it though the resuce disc, but I am unsure of how to do that, could someone point me in the right direction?
