Desktop Trash icon disappears in kde

Two questions about KDE

I'm running FC4, (2.6.11-1 kernal) on a bespoke computer. I installed both gnome and kde interfaces.

Using the gnome gui, I have a trash can on my desktop and when I shut down, it is a one-step process: I click on "shut down" and the computer shuts down.

Using kde, I have no trash can (though I can right-click a file and send it to trash) and when I shut down, it takes me to the log-in screen and I have to click shut down again from there. (Yes, I am sure I'm clicking on "shut down" and not "log off."

What changes can/should I make to have a trash can on my kde desktop and a one-step shutdown process in kde?

Thanks,

Moxieman99

--> Right Click --> Create New --> File --> Link to Application
--> Give name "Die" in General Tab
--> Give path /usr/bin/poweroff in Application Tab --> Command
--> Any other extra info you deign to give.
--> Oh yeah... choose an appropriate icon as well ;-)

The quick and dirty way to make a trash shortcut:
1) On your desktop, right-click -> Create New -> Link to Location.
2) Give the shortcut whatever name you want and specify the location as trash:/
