CD not booting at installation time!
 

I downloaded the 3 CDs: yarrow-i386.iso, Fedora Core 1. When I insert the 1st CD my PC won't boot from it! I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I downloaded the right version or what???

Did you burn the ISO as an image, or did you just burn the ISO to the disc as a file? In the cd-burning program, there should be an option to "burn from image", or some-such.

If you did that, did you check the md5sum of the ISO images before you burnt them? The sum is like a fingerprint... The person who puts a file up for download creates the sum. You download the file, and create the sum on your copy. If your's matches the one posted on the download site, you have an exact copy of the file.

I burned the CD as a file. I did not know of such an option! Stupid me!!

Don't worry... It happens a lot. An ISO is an image of what the CD contains. It's a single file that contains all the files on the CD. Almost like a ZIP, but not compressed any.

When you copy files to a CD, you unknowingly create a temporary image. In an Explorer like window, you have two views, one contains a list of what's on your hard-drive, and the other contains the list of files you want to burn. After you've burnt them, you can save the image in case you want to burn the same files again later. Most people don't save the image, so they never really see it.

I followed your advice and the installation process was flawless. Thanks again. But, now I have another problem. Since I have 3 partitions on my PC I installed Fedora successfully in one of them. I wanted to use the other boot loader from my other OS which is Win2000. I also created a boot disk in order to boot Fedora. Now, when I went to boot Fedora I get an error saying:"Boot failed: change disk and press any key" something like that. What can I do now? I would like to test Fedora before I change my default boot loader to lilo or GRUB. Can I download a boot disk image or else can I do!!
