Cant start StartX

Well, i installed Linux Fedora 2 Core 2, then when i start i enter as root
type startx in command prompt and nothing...im a complete n00b...so i dont know hoy to run the system-config-display and how to configure it, if this is the problem.
Can someone help me step by step please?

im not sure but i think it is somthing like;

X -configure

also you can check the error log in /var/log/
for future reference if you have an idea of the beging of a command ( X or X11 for example) type in the beginning then hit <tab> <tab> (tab2x) and a list of commands will appear which begin in a similar way. also try " anycommand --help " or " anycommand -h "

I've found that this works... try the following commands at the prompt.

service xfs stop
service xfs start
startx

Did you do a "canned" or a custom install? The "Server" install does not install X.

I made a custom install...so...ill have to install all again in the canned mode?
