boot hangs on configuring kernel parameters / no GUI
hi all
i just installed fedora cora 3 as a dual boot on an old machine (p2 450 with geforce 4 mx)
after the installation the boot keeps hanging on configuring kernel paramerts
after i did some searches on the internet, i removed the rhgb kernel parameter in grub
the system boots but i cant start x (startx &).
i found there are some problems with nvidia bases cards with this release:
Nvidia
Quick solution: If you do not need rhgb, just load the nvidia module in /etc/rc.local
If you have udev >= 032-5, load the nvidia module:
cp -a /dev/nvidia* /etc/udev/devices
chown root.root /etc/udev/devices/nvidia*
this however, doesnt work. there is no /dev/nvidia dir
(and udev >=032-5 = ??????)
so what would you suggest to make a gui work? ( i installed gnome and kde but it refuses to start one of them)
any help appreciated
