I'm trying to install a Zoom pcmcia modem onto a Dell Laptop and I did a
/sbin/pccardctl on it and below is the results.
This modem is a Linux compatible.

$ /sbin/pccardctl ident

ls -l /dev/modem
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Sep 21 11:52 /dev/modem -> /dev/ttyS0

When running as /dev/modem it hangs and can't find modem .

The serial_cs module is loading.

What does the /var/log/messages file show about the modem;

sudo cat /var/log/messages | grep pcmcia

Believe it or not, Nothing.
But after I installed Wvdial and ran it , it showed that it was detecting /dev/modem on ttyS1 instead of ttyS0 .
I set kppp to get /dev/modem on /dev/ttyS1 and it work like a charm.
This I do believe this is the easiest modem I have ever setup in Linux.
Zoom 56K V.92/V.90 Model:3075 PCMCIA modem.
Picked it up off Ebay for $30.49, a $70-80 modem.
