yum suddenly stopped working
Yum was working then started complaining about a parsing error with a <. I rebooted and now get this:
[root@ECEVeteran ~]# yum check-update Setting up Repos kde-redhat-stable-all 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 kde-redhat-stable 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 updates-released 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 base 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00 freshrpms 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 Reading repository metadata in from local files kde-redhat: ################################################## 401/401 kde-redhat: ################################################## 363/363 updates-re: ################################################## 872/872 base : ################################################## 2622/2622 primary.xml.gz 100% |=========================| 150 kB 00:01 http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linu...rimary.xml.gz: [Errno -1] Metadata file does not match checksum Trying other mirror. Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from freshrpms: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. I tried googling it and only found someone complaining it had happened to them. Any ideas? Thanks! |
It means that one of the mirrors in your /etc/yum.conf is not accessible. In this case its the freshrpms mirror. There has been a problem with the freshrpms apt and yum mirror in the last week or so. You may want to configure an alternative site. There is a list of mirrors somewhere on the freshrpms website.

OIC, much simpler than I thought. I had redone the checksum and everything. I'll take care of this tomorrow. Thanks!

I changed the .conf to just look at the mirror list. After about three mirrors with the same problem it finally found a good one.
