Talking Yum is Stuck

Hello Guys,

I have a Gateway Laptop with Fedora 7 installed. I use it in my workplace but about a week ago they implemented Websense for content filtering. After try to run Yum a couple of times in my office network I figured out that is wasn't going to work due that it is blocked.

The real problem began when I got home where I tried to run Yum and I had the same error just as if Websense is in home network (and there is not).

I tried running yum clean all but I still have the same blocking error.

Following a part of the error.

YumRepo Warning: not using ftp, http[s], or file for repos, skipping - <head>
YumRepo Warning: not using ftp, http[s], or file for repos, skipping - <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

YumRepo Warning: not using ftp, http[s], or file for repos, skipping - </html>
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: %s. Please verify its path and try again

Thanks for your help

If you're seeing Websense messages at home it suggests either:
You've attached to your corporate network via VPN so are still getting the same corporate network rules.
-OR-
There is some sort of Websense agent actually on your PC specifically to prevent you doing things with the "company" laptop outside the company that you would have been prevented from doing inside the company.

Credence is lent to the latter idea by the following product from Websense:
http://www.websense.com/global/en/Pr...efiltering.php

I've never used the product. You might want to ask the folks at your job about enabling Yum to certain repository locations. Of course the point in Websense is to protect the company against users that download stuff they shouldn't be downloading so I'm guessing they're not going to allow it. If not then they ought to provide an approved "company" repository where you can get your updates.
