Yum faster in Gnome?
Is it just me or does it make sense that yum works faster in Gnome?

Its a console program, I don't think there would be any difference in speed or performance regardless of which desktop environment you are using.

Faster than KDE. Perhaps Gnome just takes up less RAM, leaving more for Yum? I'm currently only running FC3 on some bare bones systems for graphics -> P2,P3 with 128MB RAM. I've noticed some crazy improvements with minimalist WMs.

If you really want a 'taste test', try running yum in console mode (failsafe) or CTRL-ALT-F1 out, etc. |
