yum.conf

I am trying to set up YUM to always get the best results back for packages I want to install but today I tried:

Code:
[root@localhost carlos]# yum search mplayer
Reading repository metadata in from local files
base : ################################################## 2622/2622
updates-re: ################################################## 615/615
No Matches found
I am kind of confused on what yum.conf example to use since there seem to be so many different examples or users YUM.conf.

Can someone tell me what is the best way to resolve my issue?
