xvidtune outputs "Video modes are not tunable on this chip" message

I use Fedora Core 3, but the graphics on the display is off-centered and the left edge of the graphics is shown cut off out of the display.
I think you can shift the graphics to the right position with the xvidtune. After adjusting the graphics position with xvidtune, it outputs the parameter of the new setting on the terminal emulator, so add the same value with the line such as "Modeline "1024x768" 94.50 1024 1072 1168 1376 768 777 780 808 +hsync +vsync" above EndSection of the "Monitor" section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
So, I run 'xvidtune', but I get "Video modes are not tunable on this chip" message, and the xvidtune tool never comes out.
Are there any other ways to find out the correct value that should be added to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
I don't have such problem with Windows OS on the same PC, so I don't wanna change the settings on the device.
