xpi.dat remove after flash install

I just installed the flash player and it doesn't work. I am using Fedora Core 1.
After the installation, it told me to contact my administrator to remove xpi.dat from mozilla and Netscape.
I am very leery of trying to do this. What does this file do?

If I leave it in, will this hurt my linux system in some way? Will it stop working at some point with some kind of conflict? ( like windoze)

If I should remove it. How do I do this? Please be explicit as I am pretty new to such a thing.
best
Penny

P.s. ANd I was so happy, as I got the RPM for realPlayerGOLD to install and it works.
p.s. Up to now, I have just been using Fedora for web browsing and for latex. It works great.
