xine dvd permissions

The xine movie player, would give an error. I checked the permissions they were as follows. brw-rw----

When I changed the permissions to brw-rw-rw-
The xine movie player played the dvd. Am I as a user, part of group

I have added the following link.

ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/dvd and ln -s /dev/hdd /dev/cdrom
When I reboot the links disappear, and the permissions for /dev/hdc revert back to rw-rw----

And the xine player refuses to work.

What is changing these settings back?

Make sure to update "udev" to the latest release, as there was a bug in the version that shipped with FC3. I'm using udev-039-10.FC3.7 and it's working fine.

Also, make sure to set the Xine options to the correct path for the "Block Device" to be able to read from /dev/??? and not from /media/???

udev-039-10.FC3.7

I seem to have the proper version. Any other ideas?
