xfce4 shortcut or launch bar?

Does anyone know how I can make a shortcut to an application in xfce4 so that I don't have to go to the menu every single time to launch the applications that I use frequently?

Is there a launch bar or something that I could use?

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't there some sort of bar on some side of the screen by default and if you right click the bar you can add application launchers?

try right clicking near some of those other buttons.

Thats an interesting snapshot. My desktop looks nothing like that. My desktop has a very small bar at the bottom that has some shortcuts but I am not able to add anything else to it.

I am able to add applets to that bar but not applications like gedit or xmms to it. Dragging and dropping to that bar or to the desktop doesn't seem to work.

I found this on the ubuntu forum, think it has your answers. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=360263

i want to add a couple of shortcuts (launcher) in the system tray.
i used to do that with ubuntu by simply right-clicking a shortcut, then (i think) add to launcher. any ideas how?
I use two methods.
The first is to create, via terminal, a sym-link
Code:

ln -s /your_appl_path/your_appl  /home/Desktop/your_appl
then drag the icon on the desktop to the tray and modify accordingly, then remove the icon on the desktop.

Second method is to add an appl, via alacarte, in Accessories then "Add to launcher".

Hope it help

I will give both a shot. I wasn't aware that the accessories menu had such an item (well I didn't think to look for it).

Thanks for the recommendations.
