I was just wondering how I might edit the right-click menu in XFCE on Fedora Core 3. I have tried other distros and they all seem to have a button that can launch a graphical app to do this (Under desktop settings and button says "Edit Desktop Menu", but Fedora seems to be missing this (more likely, it's there and I just I can't find it).
Well, if you have XFCE 4.2, you can run xfce4-menueditor. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I only started using XFCE with version 4.2. It's wonderful!
Also, using the 'Settings Manager', you can open 'Desktop', go to the 'Menu' tab and down near the bottom, you should have an 'Edit desktop menu' button.
in earlier versions, you can just edit the /xfce4/etc/xfce4/menu.xml file. not sure where it is in fedora, arch puts the xfce4 directories in /opt. with 4.2 you can get icons on the menu though, so if you can upgrade, it's worth it.
I have FC3 and downloaded a bz2 with rpms for xfce 4.2.1.1 and tried the command suggested:
rpm -ivh --nosignature *.rpm
I got alot of "conflict messages" e.g.: file /usr/lib/libxfce4util.so.1 from install of libxfce4util-4.2.1-1 conflicts with file from package libxfce4util-4.0.6-1
file /usr/bin/xfce-mcs-manager from install of xfce-mcs-manager-4.2.1-1 conflicts with file from package xfce-mcs-manager-4.0.6-2
file /usr/bin/xfce-setting-show from install of xfce-mcs-manager-4.2.1-1 conflicts with file from package xfce-mcs-manager-4.0.6-2
file /usr/share/xfce4/doc/C/images/settings_manager.png from install of xfce-mcs-manager-4.2.1-1 conflicts with file from package xfce-mcs-manager-4.0.6-2
Any suggestions as to what I can do to resolve this? I normally use the Red Hat / Fedora graphical system update tool and/or yum but xfce 4.2.1.1 has not shownn up for either yet (unless soembody could point me to a yum repo with a packgs for xfce 4.2.1.1). Any help would be much appreciated.
