Xen on Fedora 7

Hi all!

I have installed all necessary packages for Xen virtual server installation including kernel-xen, vnc and xen. For some reason I can't find the xenguest-install.py script. I have found the graphical tool for providing the same service, but am greatly interested if this script has been dropped from Fedora 7 distribution?

If not, is it a good idea to use it> heard there might be a problem or two?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Hi akvino,

The same problem (Fedora 7/Xen 3) - install kernel-xen, xen, virt-manager (vnc was already installed) both via command line using yum and the gui applications->Add/Remove Software options. xenguest-install.py simply seems to be missing!:| Additionally, when trying to setup a virtual server via gui using virt-manager - when I click "finish" to actually create the virtual server the process simply disappears without trace, no error message on screen or in logs. So... just wondering did you actually get this working?

I'm using command "virsh"/"xm" to manager my virtual machine, which works well.
It seems that virsh/xm can only work with a fedora guest, I don't know why.

Hello, I manage to get it to work after using a tool which is available in Fedora 9. Looks like RH/Fedora guys replaced the tools and never told anyone about it. I am at work now, but will let you know what the command line tool is.

Another very important thing to note - installation had to be done over internet/network, so you couldn't load the VM via cd or local iso image. After investigating this a bit further I found that it has to be done this way due to the paravirtualization of local devices, and for some reason when you tell it is residing in certain directory, it looks in its own path, meaning that local drive was not paravirtualized.
