xdvdshrink on FC5? perl-base?

I want to use xdvdshrink. I realize this is a Mandrake-centric program, but, it's just perl and bash, and I have satisfied all of it's dependencies, except for THIS one: perl-base is needed by dvdshrink-2.6.1-6mdk.noarch.
If I try to install the perl-base rpm, I get "This package conflicts with package perl:, blah-blah.
Is there a solution, or maybe better, an FC5 package for this routine? TIA, Ray

As an alternative, if you have wine installed on your FC5 or you can easily do so with an rpm, you should consider using the windows dvdshrink as it runs perfectly under wine in linux and it's much better than the xdvdshrink you are trying to install. When using xdvdshrink, I frequently had audio sync problems which ultimately drove me to wine/dvdshrink as a solution. Another pure linux alternative is k9copy which is very nice; don't know if it's available for FC5 though.

Yes, That's a nice alternative, and thank you for that. However, running under wine, when I say open the window is blank, and I cant get to my DVD drive. What is that about?
