x86_64 and my broadcom (lack of) wireless

I am running x86_64 Fedora Core 4 (uname -r: 2.6.13-1.1532_FC4) on my Acer Ferrari 4000.

I can't get my wireless LAN to work. Others have, but not on this latest core release. I'm a "newer" linux person too.

I've followed steps 3,5,6 on this site: (add the www)
[does anyone know about the WPA? it metions it for "later"]

I've also tried the Wireless LAN section on this site: (add the www) (with errors)

But when I go to desktop>system settings>network, i get the following message when trying to activate:
ndiswrapper device wlan0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

I tried to toggle the wireless card on/off (since can't be certain it's on/off due to the fact the LEDs don't work in linux). Any suggestions? It works for others (and works fine for me in WinXP).

THANKS for any help!
