.X0-lock problem with Fedora Core 6

Hi there --

I did a scratch installation of Fedora Core 6 configured to enable an X11/GUI login screen upon system boot.

I've noticed that instead of a GUI login, I get a command line login. Also, if I run startx as any user, I get an error message saying the X server is already running. The only thing that I can do is to go to the /tmp directory and remove the .X0-lock file.

Has anyone seen this, and what should I do to correct this problem? Thanks.

X is already running. Edit /etc/inittab to set the default to 4 instead of 3. Lots of discussion on forums.fedorforum.org.
