Unhappy X errors

hi,
i had a good running fc6 for past 4 months and i installed these below 3 packages to run oracle graphical installer
xorg-x11-libs
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs
xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL

Ya, a wrong step i just forced them to install and i think,it replaced some X modules.Until i restart i had absolutely no problem, even installed oracle on it. But when i restarted it took to me a blank screen and nothing responded including keyboard. So ,i boot into init 3 and updated X server using yum, even it updated its dependencies.
Now when it starts x, it says x cannot start, then asks for root password and same error.

i want to restore x , what can i do now?Almost 110 packages with name X-org is installed, shall i remove them all and try install all X-org packages on media.

system-config-display --reconfig --verbose

bugzilla.fedora.com 186321
If you are using the 386 version of kernel, then take the /usr/bin/xorg executable from the initial cd or dvd.

I had similar problems and on restoring this file, problem magically went away.

Read the bug. It has been there since last November. And is relevant to fc5 and fc6

hi,
i reinstalled all the xorg packages from media using replacepkds oprtion. After that too system-config-display doesnt seem to work

then i ran X -configure and x- config to run x from the newly configured file.i didnt get any error. so i replaced the file in /etc/X11 and it just works fine.

You are too correct ,X11 update is not nice.thanks a lot.I was frustrating without linux for 5 days

Thank u once more.

regards,
Nirmal Tom.V

To prevent future problems, add the following line to /etc/yum.conf

exclude=*xorg*
