Question Wireless Problems Please help ?

I have found out that the Dlink DWL-G122 uses the ralink chip. My question is after I download it and install it how do I go about setting it up? Is there any graphical ways to administer it. I read somewhere that someone had used kismet but I had no luck using it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dlink DWL-G122 rev B1

These are the steps I followed to install DWL-G122 on Fedora Core 3

1) Go to http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/rt2570-cvs-daily.tar.gz and download tar file.

2) make sure you are root.

3) in a terminal tar -zxvf rt2570-cvs-daily.tar.gz

4) change directories to rt2570-cvs-_______/Module

5) make

6) make install

7)/sbin/modprobe rt2570

8) Go to System Settings

9) Then choose Network

10) (IF Prompted) input roots password

11) Click New

12) Then Choose Wireless Connection

13) Then hit foward

14) select rt2570(rausb0)

15) Enter your configuration settings on both screens

16) Hit apply

17) Then double click on device rausb and check activate device when computer starts.

Hope this helps. After Hours of frustration I can say it is now honestly worth it. I was worried I would have to go back to the dreaded Windows XP.

cant get g122 to work

Hi!
I have Fedora 4 and g122 H/W:B1.
I followed your step by step instructions but cant get it to work.

When I hit activate it says it cannot activate network device:
error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06):
set failed on device rausb0:1 ; invalid argument
error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20):
set failed on device rausb0:2 ; Network is down.

The LEDs dont light up on the device when I connect it, is that an indicator of another problem or the same? The device works ok using WinXP, and other USB units work ok in the same slot.

Hope you or someone else can help.
/Mike

I'm currently receiving the same error message, except that my lights are lit up...I got the RaConfig file to show me the networks, including my own, so I know I've got a start... Not sure why I'm getting this error message though when trying to connect.
