Wireless card not available

Up until today I had Slackware 10.2 on my toshiba laptop. Was good for learning, but I was spending to much time configuring it then i was using it. The straw that broke the camels back was all of a sudden I lost my wireless conection. I didnt look to much into but noticed it did not even show up in ifconfig or iwconfig.

I used FC3 a while back, and it ran without a hitch, and instantly recognized my wireless card.

So I decided to come back to it. I installed FC4, and it didnt seem to find my wireless card. I dual boot XP (im posting from xp) and I have no wifi issues at all.

I manually set up my card as eth1. Funny thing is when I choose wireless connection to add, it gives me a list of wired NIC cards to install. So then I just choose to set up a wired network connection, and oddly enough my Intel IPW2100 card was in the options. So I set it up, and when I try to activate it, it says the hardware cannot be found.

Watching the boot process now, when it tries to bring up eth1 it also tells me the hardware is not available, and skips it.

lspci does have it listed.

Here is some of my outputs...

bingo!! it was the firmware. Figured it out a few days ago, just had'nt had the time to post my solution. Seems wierd that the instalation would come with the driver in the kernel for the card, yet not the firmware to use it.
