Wine: Quicken, ie6 etc won't run... (tried crossover office 5 too)

ok, installed wine via yum, installed quicken 2004 (which worked with wine about a year ago on gentoo and debian) i get an error message when running after installed 'you quicken program files may have been damaged'. however no matter how many times i uninstall reinstall it doesnt work :(. tried in both wine and crossover office 5 (trial edition). also tried internet explorer 6 (for a test) and that crashes with an illegal operation everytime i start it.

im running kernel: 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5 with all latest updates via yum update.

any help would be much appreciated as my dad can't work without quicken (and wont try any alternatives hence i cant use gnucash :() so if i can't get this to work back to winblows i must go :(

thanks in advanced

scott

IE6 running successfully under WINE & FC3

IE6 is running successfully under WINE & Fedora Core 3 on my x86 computer.
I downloaded and installed IEs4Linux from

According to CodeWeavers, Quicken should work with CrossOver Office 5.

i know it should do and like i said above ive ahd it working in previous distro's.

Let me add that KMyMoney is a lot closer in look and feel to Quicken than GnuCash. It is still beta, but works reasonably well. It also supports QIF import/export, which allows you to import Quicken files, although the process is cumbersome. (It is more for moving data from one application to the other than exchanging data.)

ok thanks, although i really do need quicken as he wont even try other programs :(.

slight update: ive got programs such as grabit (usenet nzb program) to work, however quicken still gives me that error :(. i uninstalled then reinstalled wine with no difference.

Well, hang in there. If you have run it in the past, you know you can do it again. Some people have rated Quicken 2004 as high as Gold with CrossOver Office. You might also try the tips for running it if you have not done so already.

lil update, i have managed to run other programs with wine now (bog standard wine not crossover office), ive managed to run grabit (as i said above) and now a game, football manager 2006. so form this im assuming that ie6 and quicken are calling some functions or something that is making fedora/wine trip out :(
