Wine + FC2 + winetools = help me

Ok...so I installed the latest wine using RPM wine-20040615-1fc1winehq.athlon.rpm, all seemed well. I read on the wine site that it would create the config file automatically, but apparently it didn't. I then installed winetools from here: http://www.franksworld.net/winetools.html and went to edit config file, but there was no file. So I then proceeded to create a fake windows drive using the winetools. So far all is dandy. I then attempt to isntall the MS applications using winetools and get a few segmentation faults, blah blah blah. My questions is this. Will Wine create a config file upon using it on an .exe for the first time? Also, how in the world do you uninstall winetools? Just deleting the folder in /opt/winetools would not be correct would it?

Thanks in advance!

you can create a config file by running
winecfg

The segfault can be avoided by
echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield

I put this above line in my /etc/rc.local so that i don't have to issue it everytime.

Ok understand that part...so you don't even use winetools? Also, I'm a newb as you can see, but once I install something via wine, how in the heck do I run it? Let's say WinRAR???

Thanks Again.

My experience with wine is exactly 1 day. So I am not an expert either.
I found that winecfg creates a usuable config file.

after that I just use the command

wine /mnt/windows/windows/notepad.exe

to run the programs. (As you probably guessed, my c: drive is mounted on /mnt/windows)

good luck!
