windows xp and fedora 3

Hi,

Been reading alot and need more guide before I attempt to try. I have a computer running xp (single drive). I did partitioned the drive and installed fedora core 3 on second partition (hda2 = /boot). Installed it in expert mode and got my usb thumb drive recognized as /sda1. Also installed the boot loader on /boot (didn't want to do on MBR because of others experiencing issues). Anyway, I read that I can create a boot image on the thumb drive. Can some list the commands to accomplish this? This threads discusses what sounds like I would want (www dot linuxquestions dot org/questions/history/287446). However, how do I do it for the thumb drive? thanks in advance.

I think it was core 2 that had an odd bug with dual booting, but core 3 works fine.

Yeah, set the "timeout" from 3 to 10.

thanks, that's good info. I would still like to know how to mount, create, and copy the boot image to my usb thumbdrive on sda1. If anyone else knows, please post your reply.

Try grub-install /dev/sda1. this is trial and error, so may not work. If you decide to try it out post your results coz I would like to try something similar for backups in the near future.
