Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with yum on fedora 11.
When I ran yum install mplayer/vinagre.i586/ or whatever, It always process dependancies and then at some point returns an error like

"vinagre-2.26.2-1.fc11.i586 from fedora has depsolving problems".
-> Missing Dependency: libgtk-vnc-1.0.so.0 is needed by package vinagre-2.26.2-1.fc11.i586 (fedora)

or

-> Finished Dependency Resolution
mplayer-1.0-0.109.20090329svn.fc11.i586 from rpmfusion-free has depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: libfribidi.so.0 is needed by package mplayer-1.0-0.109.20090329svn.fc11.i586 (rpmfusion-free)


I tried installing different applications but yum always comes with the above errors.

I have tried

yum clean all
yum clean dbcache

Any help would be appreciated.

The package vinagre needs gtk-vnc so you need to install it also. Don't know why yum isn't picking up on the dependency. Same deal with mplayer. It needs fribidi installed as a dependency. Strange behavior IMHO.

You can find out about the dependencies the way I did.
Often times if programs are already installed there will be dependency errors. For example, if you have gtk-vnc already installed but it is an older version it will cause errors like these. If that's the case then
should work.

I'd also suggest disabling the Adobe and Livna repositories as they are, for the most part, not needed, especially if you've already installed AdobeReader and libdvdcss. Disable the fedora-source repository too.
