Check the Compaq web site for the model number of you're PC. Most likely it should have the model of the sound card in there. Once you have done that, google around for linux drivers for the card.

Hello everyone

can anybody give me a hand. I want to create extend partition in Fedora core. I have dual boot fedora with WinXP. On the disk there is now three partition one of 7500MB is windows and the other two are linux
[root@localhost root]# fdisk /dev/hdb -l

Disk /dev/hdb: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 * 1 957 7680928+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hdb2 958 2167 9719325 83 Linux
/dev/hdb3 2168 2320 1228972+ 82 Linux swap

WHEN i tried to type fdisk /dev/hdb (enter)
n (new partition "enter")
E (extend "enter")

[root@localhost root]# fdisk /dev/hdb

The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 14593.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

Command (m for help): n

First cylinder (957-14593, default 957): 2322
Last cylinder or +size or +sizeM or +sizeK (2322-14593, default 14593): 14593

Command (m for help): t

Hex code (type L to list codes): 85
Changed system type of partition 4 to 85 (Linux extended)

Command (m for help): w
The partition table has been altered!

The kernel still uses the old table.
The new table will be used at the next reboot.
Syncing disks
[root@localhost root]#

AFTER THIS I SHOULD ABLE TO MAKE FILE SYSTEM AND I DID

[root@localhost root]# mkreiserfs /dev/hdb4
mkreiserfs 3.6.13 (2003 www.namesys.com)

A pair of credits:
Oleg Drokin was the debugger for V3 during most of the time that V4 was under
development, and was quite skilled and fast at it. He wrote the large write
optimization of V3.

Vitaly Fertman wrote fsck for V3 and maintains the reiserfsprogs package now.
He wrote librepair, userspace plugins repair code, fsck for V4, and worked on
developing libreiser4 and userspace plugins with Umka.

Guessing about desired format.. Kernel 2.6.5-1.358 is running.
reiserfs_create: can not create that small (0 blocks) filesystem
[root@localhost root]#

WHAT SHOULD I DO ? PARTITION ARE THERE BUT I CAN'T MAKE FILE SYSTEM
[root@localhost root]# fdisk /dev/hdb -l

Disk /dev/hdb: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 * 1 957 7680928+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hdb2 958 2167 9719325 83 Linux
/dev/hdb3 2168 2320 1228972+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hdb4 2322 14593 98574840 85 Linux extended
[root@localhost root]#

THANKS
