Why do many things fail to compile on FC5?

I've been running FC5 and trying to reinstall my apps and since many don't have FC5 RPMs yet, I've been compiling them from source (which is usually not a problem). However, I've found several apps which fail to compile when I know I have compiled it exactly the same way on FC4. The errors are also similar, which leads me to believe there may be a problem with the compiler in FC5? Here's two examples:

klibido 0.2.5:
Code:
nntpthreadsocket.h:237: error: extra qualification ‘NntpThreadSocket::’ on member ‘m_findEndLine’
yydecoder.h:90: error: extra qualification ‘yyDecoder::’ on member ‘charCRC’
make[2]: *** [main.o] Error 1
keep 0.3.0
Code:
keepmainwindow.h:60: error: extra qualification ‘KeepMainWindow::’ on member ‘backupSystemRunning’
make[3]: *** [main.o] Error 1
Any ideas what is actually causing this and if there is some workaround I can use? Thanks.

I've had pretty much the same problem in trying to compile a driver in FC5. Perhaps the newer version of gcc has slightly modified include files. For example, when trying to compile my driver, I got something like "tty_struct has no member named flip" but it compiled just fine in Redhat9. I looked inside the tty.h file and tty_struct indeed does not have a member method/variable called "flip," at least not in the include files that came with the gcc in FC5. Maybe it might work to use a lower version gcc. FC5 comes with gcc 4.0something I think.

I have compiled klibido 0.2.5 for fedora core 5. I had the same issue in that some of my fav apps not being available.
That error you mention is a bug in the Klibido code and there is a patch to fix it if you'd rather compile your own.
