What will happen When I upgrade from Fedora 5 to Fedora 6?

What will happen When I upgrade from Fedora 5 to Fedora 6?
I have a dual booted Dell Dimension 4500. I want to backup my Fedora 5 home drive to a SATA drive.
I bought a HighPoint RocketRaid 1520. (I won't use the RAID feature. I have only one drive to connect to it.)
The driver from HighPoint s for Fedora 6. So, I need to upgrade to Fedora 6. I am new at Linux. This is my first upgrade. So, I have several questions. What will happen when I upgrade. Will I lose any of the tools I have installed like Thunderbird email ,FireFox browser, or my home directory? I have done Windows up grades and they do not change tools like the above. I just want to be sure before I do the upgrade. My CD/DVD drive has been giving me trouble so I want to order Fedora 6 CDs. Where can I get them?

I don't think you'll have any issues (major), here is a link to a thread of a upgrade from Fedora 4 to 6, could be good reading. You may want to click on Phil's name on the left and select "send e-mail to Phil" and ask him/her personally.

Go to Fedora's web site for info on ordering Fedora 6 if you don't want to download them, if you do want to download I suggest using torrent download of the DVD, you can shut down the torrent and re-start as many times as needed and you won't need to start over from scratch like what you would need to do if you download straight from a mirror and the computer gets powered down during download. And torrent downloads are verified if it completes successfully, meaning you don't have to verify the sha1 sum to make sure it is good.

You may want to just do a Google search to find a vendor near you that offers Fedora discs, or to order for mail delivery.
