What is the FTP Folder in vsFTPd?

Hey:

I think I have vsFTPd setup on my laptop correctly but I don't know what the shared folder is by default. Could someone please tell me what it is? I'd also like to know if I can either add another shared folder to be seen in vsFTPd or change the default folder to the shared folder I already have setup in Samba?

I'd also like to know why vsFTPd is not working for me. Here's my setup. I'm using my desktop as a gateway for my laptop. I think I have vsFTPd setup correctly but I may have missed something. I know it's running so even if I did miss something in setting it up I should at least get some kind of reaction from it when attempting to login to it from a friends house. I'm using Filezilla for the client but I'm not getting anything. I'm looking for someones help on here who is willing to walk through the steps with me.

500 Gold to the man with the right answer.

/var/ftp/pub

in order to change the default sharing dir you will need to edit the config file ( /etc/vsftpd.conf or something simmilar ) or maybe just try putting a sym link to the samba dir (not sure if that will work though depending on your configuration. )

not sure why it is not working. have you opened up all correct ports on any routers you have?

If im not mistaken the default folder for vsftpd is the user's home directory. So, if you login with user1 then you will be in /home/user1.
