What happened to rpmfusion?

It's been a while since anything has come out from the rpmfusion people. Is this project still a go? Last I heard, they were supposed to go live with Fedora 9. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knew something.

I have noticed that. However, the project says that it will be available for Red Hat Enterprise also. But in the configuration section, there is still nothing there.

The project is not ready for general use - and it's a big project.
http://rpmfusion.org/InitialPackageMerge

Not all the repos have a rep (i.e. dag)
Not all packages will be merged (i.e. libdvdcss, adobe-reader)

And the idea, it seems, is to build the packages rather than just copy someone elses. This makes the project bigger.

... consider joining the mailing list.

Thing is - CentOS has quite useable repos of their own; RHEL users should be using up2date or migrating to a non-commercial distro; and fedora users really only have three 3rd-party repos to consider, with all but specialists needing only livna. I'm not sure the project is solving a problem that actually exists.

Assuming the big three you were referring to were Livna, Freshrpms, and ATrpms; last I heard Atrpms had dropped out. While I have had my issues with Atrpms on Fedora (multiple reinstalls on FC4 due to them) they do carry a large selection of packages that no one else seems to (mythv, etc). Oddly enough they are well behaved and solid on Centos. Their loss to the project was a significant loss of motivation.

There were(or are) some technological advances that I suspect have not gone as smoothly as had been hoped. A half breed (Amod?) was supposed to come about with all the best features of Livna's Kmods and Freshrpms' Dkms. Ease of maintenance/version updating (kmods strong suit) and automatic local rebuild when new kernel installed(Dkms strong suit) (no waiting for packager to build against new kernel) were its target.

Beyond that it is just a huge amount of work and most of the work is done by volunteers.
