What does this mean?
Hey Guys:
I recently installed vsFTPd on my laptop but I was unable to get it working. I'm pretty sure it was something I did wrong so I used the yum remove vsftpd command to remove it...at least I thought I removed it. When I put my laptop on the network again to reload it I got the following:
[root@ordinary12 ~]# yum install vsftpd
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Repository 'macromedia' is missing name in configuration, using id
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
I'm a noobie so I have no idea what this means. I get that error about macromedia all the time. Can someone please tell me how to fix that along with instructions on how to finish the removal of vsFTPd?

Do not double post. You will not get answers if you double post like this.
this is the exact same question you asked here:

Alright. I won't double post again but I can't help but notice that you are aware I doubled posted yet made no attempt to answer my question. Am I supposed to give up on finding the answers I need because you're more interested in silly rules rather than helping a member of this forum?

I answered on both of your other posts. And if you look at the times it was before I made a comment about you double posting.

Look at /var/lock/subsys/ to see if you have a lock set for yum. (Any such lock should have been cleared during the reboot, but see the note, below.)
Do a ps -e | grep yum to see if you've got a yum process running.
If the answers are "yes" for the first and "no" for the second, do a sudo rm /var/lock/subsys/yum.
Note, however, that you should only do this if you're sure that no yum process is running. I'm not sure how your system does automatic updates (check your /etc/cron.daily directory) but yum is often run from there to do such updates, and it may have been running when you tried to use it.
As an aside, using, for example, smart, as well as yum for accessing the repositories can avoid the lock problem, as well as providing alternative updating and maintenance methods.

And just an addition to PTrenholme's post, if you haven't setup sudo or didn't install it then doing it as root is the equivalent.
