What does Fedora Core 5 Rescue Disc do?

Hello,

Qn1. Does anyone know what the Fedora Core 5 Rescue Disc is for?

Qn2. I have just installed FC5 over Red Hat Linux 9.0 on a Dell PowerEdge 1750. The migration did not go as smoothly as I hoped for. I would like to now UNINSTALL FC5 and revert to the original RHL 9.0 on the HDD. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks!

To answer question 1:

The Rescue disc is used to mount a fedora root filesystem that has been installed on a hard drive. It can be useful if you have a system that won't boot. After mounting the filesystem, the disk will bring up a shell, and you can navigate to the mount point. Then you can navigate around the mounted filesystem and change whatever you need to.
