What Device?


How do I found out which device my DVD drive is on or where it is mounted (FC6)?

I installed VLC using yum+livna and it asks me for my device name. It's currently set as /dev/hdb, but that's not it.

I've got two drives and can view them using Nautilus without any problems.

if you only have IDE drives then check how they are physically connected.

primary master channel = /dev/hda
primary slave channel = /dev/hdb
secondary master channel = /dev/hdc
secondary slave channel = /dev/hdd
