What are all the Fedora disk images for?

I'm an extreem newbie to linux and i'm going to install fedora on a dual boot system. my question is do i need all the disk images. what is on all of them. is the first the OS, then the rest have other software? I was wondering because it does take a while to download them, i was thinking that if the OS is on the first one i could install it then down load the others later. or am i just a moron?

so i guess what i'm asking is:
what's on each of the disks?

any help would be nice

install OS is on the first 3 cds.

thats all i ever download & all i ever needed.

and how much space do i need on a partition to install it?
