VLC audio disappears
I had vlc playing OK but after attempting to play it again no audio is heard even though the setting shows full volume. The tracks being played are listed.
I removed the vlc and re-installed it but it still does not play. I tried to run it from a terminal and got the following:
Code:
[barry@localhost ~]$ vlc
VLC media player 2.2.2 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.1-161-g360f42e)
[000056069dfb5178] core libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
[00007fd854000ee8] http access: Raw-audio server found, mp3 demuxer selected
[00007fd8580030c8] mpgatofixed32 audio converter error: libmad error: bad main_data_begin pointer

Did this happen after an update? The first thing you can check is to see if all the channels in alsamixer are unmuted. You can use the command given here to check your sound chip.

Hmm, I'm not sure what else to recommend, except to post this information over at the VLC forum and see if they can give you a solution there, in case no one here can.

Thanks I have gone to the forum. The odd thing is I can record with vlc and play back with rhythmbox.
