Virtual PC on Fedora
 

Ok,so I have scowered the web only to come up with NOTHING. I want to run Virtual PC on my machine with Fedora Core 6 as my primary OS. Any help,links,suggestions?

i tried VirtualBox today. it's very easy to intall and configure and it seems to be fast as well. VMWare server is a more powerful. you can install an operating system then take a snapshot of the system and revert it back if you screwed it up. Xen is a very powerful option as well but involves more command line configuration. in my opinion Xen is the fastest every...

Xen does have some issues if you want to bridge you guest os's internet connection to your hosts wifi... Also, a lot of people have gotten the double mouse problem as well. Most of the programs to create vms are small though so you could run vmware, xen, and qemu/kvm on the same machine and decide what you like the best. The modules for kvm are now built into the .20 kernel.

k,since getting these programs to actualy work is very confusing for me(I'm a linux noob) does anyone have any suggestions on getting my sound to work? Again,I'm running Fedora Core 6 but my sound just does not work. Suggestions?

I use QEMU/KQEMU for running virtual machines. Its easy enough to get running, in fact the hardest part was installing windows xp on one of the virtual machines. I suggest compiling from source if you want to make use of the kqemu side of things (a lot faster than qemu alone).

Sound is done via generic drivers on the VM. Soundblaster 16 is one of them, as i remember. Video is Vesa compatible or Cirrus logic for low-res.

But for me i can run Windows XP or Knoppix with a click of the mouse. Cant beat it really.
