Viewing Linux drives from Windows

What do you think is the best way to get access to hard drives on a linux machine on the network, from a Windows machine on the network? I'm running Fedora Core 6 on the linux machine and WinXP on the PC.

I can already do it via putty, but I want the linux drive to look like any other drive in Windows. I want to be able to access it in the Windows gui for ease of use.

Thanks for the help.

The common way of doing this is to install and configure Samba on your linux machine. You probably should create samba users on the linux machine. You can then share any directory, or entire partition you choose. From windoze it looks like any other windoze share.

Have a look in the wiki to find examples of how to set it up, or just search this board.

Thanks I setup Samba and I can see it from my PC, but it's saying I don't have access from this station.

I matched my samba user account info to my windows account info. I changed the samba workgroup name.

The samba server is listed correctly and I can access it. Thanks again.

You will need to post your smb.conf file and we'll take a look.

To make life easier, I installed swat on linux and it makes samba administration a little easier.
