Question Video Players on FC5

Has anyone got any video players running on FC5 yet ? i tried xine using the yum repos which would earlier install flawlessly on FC4 but now i get some long dependency errors
Quote:
Error: Missing Dependency: libcrypto.so.5 is needed by package xine
Error: Missing Dependency: libssl.so.5 is needed by package xine
Error: Missing Dependency: libMagick.so.6 is needed by package xine-lib
Error: Missing Dependency: libgs.so.7 is needed by package xine-lib
Error: Missing Dependency: libWand.so.6 is needed by package xine-lib
I then considered going back to MPlayer and installed that through yum. went flawlessly but now the programme never starts. running it in the terminal i see the output
Quote:
MPlayer 1.0pre7try2-3.2.3 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel Celeron 2/Pentium III Tualatin (Family: 6, Stepping: 1)
Detected cache-line size is 32 bytes
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0

vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
Opening joystick device /dev/input/js0
Can't open joystick device /dev/input/js0 : No such file or directory
Can't init input joystick
Setting up LIRC support...
mplayer: could not connect to socket
mplayer: No such file or directory
Failed to open LIRC support.
You will not be able to use your remote control.
the terminal freezes there ( thats the point where its supposed to load the skin that i placed in the default/skin dir )

If anyone has any success with either player or any other player pls let me know.

are you using FC4 or FC5 repos?

VLC is a GREAT player, plays as much as mplayer i think http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

of course this is just going around the problem, what command are you using to run mplayer? it always spams me that stuff too but it still plays

Both MPlayer and Xine have been working fine on my FC5 box since Monday night, either as standalones or within MythTV. I use freshrpms and atrpms as my primary sources for these 'wares and their related codecs.

As for audio, Rhythmbox (based on gstreamer 0.10) is excellent. Don't forget to install the three plugin packages though: gstreamer-plugins-good, gstreamer-plugins-bad and gstreamer-plugins-ugly.
