video card change

at the moment i'm running fc1 an a p4 1,7ghz 512mb ram and 2 hd 80gb with a nvidia geforce4 mx 64mb. now i'm going to change my video card into a ati9100 128mb. what is the right procedure to manage this change? for instance i mean: 1-before all should i upgrade my system to fc2? 2-what should i install before the driver or the card? 3-other step to do

Hi pirozzi,

shutdown the system and diconnect the power cable, simply pull out the old video card and plug the new one in. FC should be able to detect the change and do the appropriate hardware setup. if you are thinking of installing FC2 then i would recomment that you change the video card first and then install the FC2.

when i had a FC2 i did a sound card change. i simply turned off the computer pulled out the old card and pluged the new one in, when i rebooted the computer during the boot process FC2 saw the change and it brought up the hardware configuration, from there i just told it to update the hardware configuration and the new sound card was working fine.

I didn't have to install any drivers for the sound card, but if you have drivers that you need to install then i would do that after you have the video card pluged in.

Hope this helps
