USB External Hard drives

Hi,
I recently got Fedora Core 1 and i also just got a new external hard drive because i can't fit it in to the inside because i have only got a 10GB internal hard drive at the moment but i would like to get the external hard drive going but my only problem is that i do not know where to go and install is there any one out there who can shine some light the specs of the eternal hard disk are: 80GB, its made by Western Digital, 7200RPM rotational speed, suitable for USB 2.0. please help me!

USB external storage devices are automatically recognized and mounted. HOWEVER - that's only been true since about Fedora Core 3, as far as I recall. Not only is Fedora Core 1 OLD, but it's no longer being support for patches.

I recommend you upgrade to FC4, then try your external drive. I think you'll find that it behaves as you'd expect.

Thanks for the advice i will have to look around to find fedore core 4 then!!!
