USB Drive Transfer Rate Slow After Updating

Hi all

I am using a 256Mb PQI Intelligent Stick 2.0 on my Fedora Core 3, Linux version 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.

The transfer rates of files from my hard disk to the thumb drive used to be a breeze but ever since i ran the update (red circle with exclamation mark) the transfer rate has gone down the drain! Takes me well over 5 minutes to transfer a 5Mb file. Sorry, I can't remember exactly what the update was, I just selected all of them.

Any ideas why this is happening? How can I remedy it?

Thanks.

Have you restarted the computer?

Usually, you need to restart the computer after applying the Updates.
Maybe your Kernel too was updated....and patched.
Because you updated everything....I guess restarting would be the first step.

ow I solved the problem

Hi
Just experienced the same problem after doing an up2date. It appears that the problem is in the latest kernel (6.12-1.1372_FC3) because when I rebooted and selected the previous kernel (version 2.6.11-1.35_FC3) the problem went away

Hope this helps

Ian

FYI, this issue is being discussed in bug #167174. The problem appears to be the 'sync' option that gets added to /etc/fstab when mounting the device.
